Sociology has been offered at the undergraduate level since the inception of the college but as a postgraduate course it was started in 2005. From the educational level of 2019-20, it’s transformed into a department of continuous learning where students started getting into university merit in every session despite being from a rural area.
Here students not only get formal education but also transform themselves as positive and active members of society by understanding the social problems of the society from the perspective of sociology in a better way so that they can show a better direction to others and can give their positive contribution in taking the condition of society in the right direction in a positive way.

The sociology department promotes social responsibility and research work, fosters teaching and research excellence, serves as a hub for social initiatives, and provides education for enhancing students' education, social, and economic well-being.
Mission
The sociology department aims to provide students with quality teaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, while fostering a supportive and caring environment that promotes local, national, and global problem-solving.
Strengths
Faculty is fully qualified and skilled.
Student-teacher relation has always been the strength of our department.
Good and healthy learning environment.
Good results of UG and PG classes.
Weakness
There is only one regular Assistant Professor, he is also attached to another college as Work Assistant.
Only one post is sanctioned for the department.
Future Plan
To organize a national level seminar/conference in the department.
Smart classroom.
Collaboration with NGO.
To involve in field survey-based extensive research activity.
