CHANDULAL CHANDRAKAR GOVERNMENT ARTS &
COMMERCE COLLEGE, DHAMDHA (C.G.)

MENTAL HEALTH POLICY- 2026-30

(ADAPTED FROM THE NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH POLICY OF INDIA)

Purpose: The College will create a warm, supportive college community where every student, teacher, and staff member will feel cared for, with mental health support that will be easy to access and free of judgment.

Scope: This policy will cover all members of our college family, including students, teachers, staff, and even visitors.

Policy Statement: Our college will dedicate itself to building a caring culture, offering mental health help to everyone, and ensuring no one will feel alone in their struggles. The College will set up a Psychological Counselling Cell for staff and students.

Key Components:

Our Vision:

The College will boost mental well-being, help everyone feel included, and provide kind, affordable support through the Psychological Counselling Cell. This will mean reducing stress and supporting all members of our college community throughout their time here.

Our Core Values and Beliefs:

Fairness: We will offer our support to fit different backgrounds and needs, ensuring everyone will get a fair share of our resources, whether they’re in remote areas or facing unique challenges. This means we’ll take extra care to reach out to students from all walks of life, adjusting our services to meet their specific circumstances, so no one feels overlooked or left behind.
Kindness: We will prioritize those who need extra help, like students from tough situations, making sure they will feel seen and supported. We’ll go out of our way to lend a hand to those struggling with personal hardships, offering a listening ear and tailored assistance to let them know they’re not alone on this journey.
Team Effort: Mental health care will blend into our general health services, so it will feel natural and connected. We’ll weave mental health support seamlessly into our existing health framework, making it as routine as visiting a doctor for a physical check-up, ensuring it’s a supportive part of everyday campus life.
Smart Choices: We will use the latest research and student feedback to guide our efforts. We’ll stay up-to-date with the best studies and listen closely to what students tell us, using this knowledge to create plans that really work and keep improving over time.
Quality Care: Our services will be top-notch and will feel right for those who use them. We’ll provide care that’s professional and warm, designed with the student experience in mind, so everyone feels comfortable and confident in the help they receive.
Togetherness: Students, teachers, and staff will work together to shape and improve this policy. We’ll build a collaborative spirit where everyone’s voice matters, holding regular meetings and discussions to ensure the policy reflects the needs and ideas of our whole college community.
Whole-Person Care: We will support mind, body, and spirit, respecting everyone’s unique story. We’ll offer a holistic approach that cares for every aspect of a student’s well-being—mental health, physical health, and personal beliefs—honoring their individual backgrounds and experiences with empathy and respect.

Our Goals and Plans:

What the College Want to Achieve:

  • We will ease stress, support daily life, and prevent early struggles for everyone on campus. We will create a nurturing environment where students and staff can manage stress effectively, offering tools like counseling and relaxation spaces to help them navigate daily challenges, while stepping in early to prevent small issues from growing into bigger problems.
  • We will help everyone understand mental health better. We will launch educational programs, workshops, and open discussions to break down myths, encouraging a campus culture where mental health is understood and talked about openly by all—students, teachers, and staff alike.
  • We will build strong leadership to guide our mental health efforts at all levels. We will train dedicated leaders—among faculty, staff, and student representatives—to champion mental health initiatives, ensuring guidance and support flow smoothly from the top down to every corner of the college.

How The College will Get There:

  • We will make sure everyone can easily get mental health care. We will set up accessible counseling services, both in-person and online, with clear signposts and a welcoming process so no one feels lost or hesitant to seek help when they need it.
  • We will increase access to helpful services, including prevention and ongoing support. We will expand offerings like stress management workshops, peer support groups, and follow-up care, ensuring students have a range of resources to prevent issues and get continuous support tailored to their needs.

Our Approach:

Clear Leadership: We will establish a dedicated team of caring professionals and administrators who will oversee every aspect of our mental health initiatives.

Raising Awareness: We will organize engaging workshops led by experts to educate students, faculty, and staff about mental health.

Prevention: We will proactively work to stop mental health crises, such as suicide risks, before they escalate.

Open Access: We will provide free counseling and crisis support that will be available to every student, teacher, and staff member, no matter their background.

Trained Support: We will train our staff and peer mentors thoroughly to offer compassionate and effective assistance.

Community Input: We will invite students to share their ideas and experiences to help shape our mental health plans.

Learning and Growth: We will continuously study what works best by gathering feedback and analyzing outcomes.

Putting It into Action:

Funding: The College will set aside money for support, with help from college funds or partners.

Sharing the Plan: The College will explain this in posters, flex, orientation / Induction programmes, and online.

Following Rules: The College will respect privacy and access laws.

Checking In: The College will conduct an extensive review every year with the help of a College Mental Health Task Force, listening to feedback to make it even better.
