Academic & Research Activities

1. IPR Awareness Webinar

(23 June 2025)

An informative webinar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was organized to educate students and faculty on the legal frameworks governing creativity and innovation. Ms. Nikeita Kumari, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs at DPIIT, New Delhi, was the resource person. She offered detailed insights into the processes of filing patents, copyrights, and trademarks, and emphasized their significance in academic research and commercial innovation. The session was interactive, with an engaging Q&A that clarified doubts and deepened understanding. Attendees appreciated the clarity and relevance of the presentation, which highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual contributions in a knowledge-driven economy.

2. Research Paper Writing Webinar

(26 June 2025)

Dr. Prashant Kumar Shrivastav from Govt. V.Y.T. Autonomous College, Durg, led a practical session on how to craft an effective research paper. The webinar focused on essential topics like selecting a topic, structuring a paper, citation styles, and avoiding common mistakes. Designed for students and early-career researchers, the webinar aimed to build confidence and academic rigor. Participants actively engaged throughout, appreciating the real-life examples and actionable tips that made the process of academic writing less daunting and more rewarding.

3. Research Methodology Workshop

A one-day intensive workshop was jointly hosted by the Commerce Research Centre and IQAC to promote rigorous academic inquiry. Dr. Tapesh Chandra Gupta, Additional Director of Higher Education, delivered the keynote, asserting that a strong research foundation begins with proper methodology. Dr. G.D.S. Bagga offered real-world applications of research tools in various disciplines. Participants—ranging from faculty to postgraduate students—found the session eye-opening and motivating. The workshop played a pivotal role in establishing best practices for data collection, analysis, and interpretation in academic projects.

4. Pre-Ph.D. Viva

(27 May 2025)

The Commerce Research Centre conducted its first pre-Ph.D. viva examination for research scholar Anamika Sahu. Her thesis, focused on the role of self-help groups in women's economic empowerment, received commendation for both its academic depth and real-world relevance. Guided by Dr. G.D.S. Bagga and evaluated by Dr. Sumeet Agrawal and Dr. Usha Kiran Agrawal, the event marked a milestone for the college’s research ecosystem. Constructive feedback was shared to enhance the work’s impact, and the viva showcased the college's commitment to high-quality, socially relevant research.

5. Guest Lecture on Research Ethics

(3 May 2025)

Dr. Dharmendra Kannauje delivered a lecture on the ethical dimensions of conducting research. Students were introduced to crucial principles such as informed consent, plagiarism avoidance, and the role of integrity in data handling. The lecture emphasized that ethics is not just a checkbox in research, but a foundational pillar that upholds the credibility and societal impact of academic work. The talk stimulated thoughtful discussion and left attendees more aware of their responsibilities as budding researchers.

Skill Development Activities

1. 10 Day Personality Development Workshop

(14–23 Jan 2025)

A ten-day workshop on personality development was held to transform students’ soft skills and self-confidence. Spearheaded by the Sociology Department and IQAC, and supported by Principal Dr. Usha Kiran Agrawal, the program featured sessions on verbal and non-verbal communication, leadership, problem-solving, resume building, stress management, and professional grooming. Experts like Dr. Dinesh Lahari, Dr. Mini Alex, and Dr. Gautami Bhatapahari mentored students using real-life scenarios and interactive modules. The workshop equipped students—especially from rural backgrounds—with essential life and workplace skills, setting them on a path of personal and professional success.

2. 10 Day Clay Workshop

(14–23 Jan 2025)

This hands-on workshop was guided by artist Mr. Dron Nishad, who demonstrated multiple clay modeling techniques. Students created sculptures reflecting themes such as nature, heritage, and creativity. The models were later exhibited, showcasing the participants' ingenuity. Principal Dr. Agrawal highlighted the value of artistic pursuits in holistic education. Coordinators Mrs. Rashmi Mohanty and Dr. Rinku Jhamta ensured smooth execution. Participants received certificates, and the workshop encouraged exploration of artistic careers and self-expression through tactile media.

3. Career & Placement Sessions

Throughout the academic year, the Placement Cell organized events aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment. Highlights included a resume writing session by Dr. R. Gupta, career counseling by Dr. B. Raghu, a seminar on aviation careers by the Fledge Institute, and a placement camp in collaboration with Prism Group. These sessions improved students’ awareness of job market expectations, helped clarify career goals, and instilled confidence to face interviews and corporate environments. Financial literacy was also addressed through a MoneyBazar seminar on investment planning.

Cultural & Literary Events

1. Annual Function

(27 February 2025)

The college’s grand Annual Function was attended by several dignitaries including IAS officers and education directors. The highlight of the event was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where top-performing students were awarded medals and certificates. Special recognition was given to those active in social service activities like blood donation. The event celebrated academic excellence, cultural pride, and student achievements in a vibrant, formal setting that inspired others to aim high.

2. Diksharambh Ceremony

(5 August 2024)

This induction ceremony for first-year students introduced them to college systems, the National Education Policy 2020, and faculty coordinators. Attendees received guidance on subject selection, committees, and academic resources. Parents, guest speakers, and faculty stressed the importance of infrastructure and inclusive education. The event fostered a sense of community, academic orientation, and responsibility among new entrants.

3. Youth Festival

(8 November 2024)

A festive explosion of creativity took place during the Youth Festival. Events like debate, singing, painting, mehendi, and dance saw full participation across departments. Classrooms transformed into performance stages, and faculty coordinated and judged events. The festival cultivated confidence, creativity, collaboration, and cultural understanding, adding color and spirit to college life.

4. Basant Utsav Poetry Recitation

To celebrate the poetic essence of spring, students recited self-written verses reflecting nature and the literary richness of Mahadevi Verma’s works. The auditorium buzzed with emotion, expression, and rhythm. Students from diverse streams expressed their thoughts creatively, promoting literary culture and the timeless power of words.

5. Hindi Diwas Celebration

The Hindi Department led the charge in celebrating the richness of Hindi language and literature. Students delivered speeches, shared poems, and engaged in discussions highlighting the language’s relevance in today’s digital and global era. The event encouraged respect for India’s linguistic diversity and emphasized the role of Hindi in preserving cultural identity.

6. Constitution Day

(26 November 2024)

Students and faculty gathered to read the Preamble of the Constitution and took an oath to uphold democratic values. The event featured discussions on the Constitution’s historical and modern significance. It was a reminder of civic duties and the importance of informed citizenship in a vibrant democracy.

7. World AIDS Day

(1 December 2024)

Marking World AIDS Day, a speech competition and awareness lecture were held in collaboration with NGO Yuvodaya. Students learned about HIV prevention, social stigma, and the importance of regular health checks. The event combined education with emotional engagement, empowering students with knowledge and empathy.

Social & Environmental Initiatives

1. Poshan Vidyalaya Abhiyan

(17 December 2024)

Faculty members visited local schools to motivate students towards higher education and inform them about NEP 2020’s goals. Information about scholarships, open courses, NSS, and extracurriculars was shared. The outreach reflected the college’s social responsibility and commitment to inclusivity in education.

2. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NSS volunteers conducted a campus cleanliness drive under this national mission. Students actively participated in cleaning the premises and promoting hygiene awareness. The event fostered respect for the environment and civic cleanliness, aligning with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and sustainable living.

3. Nasha Mukt Bharat & Deworming Campaigns

Slogan-writing drives, community outreach, and health campaigns were organized to raise awareness about addiction and deworming. Students were administered tablets and educated on health benefits. These events emphasized well-being, healthy living, and the importance of preventive healthcare.

4. Blood Donation Camp

A camp organized with Chandulal Chandrakar Medical College saw more than 50 volunteers donate blood. Students and faculty contributed, spreading awareness on the importance of regular donation and the life-saving potential of this noble act. It reinforced social empathy and communal responsibility.

5. International Yoga Day

(21 June 2025)

Dr. S.K. Meshram led yoga demonstrations for students and staff. The session showcased various asanas and breathing techniques, promoting the physical and mental benefits of yoga. Attendees were encouraged to make yoga a daily habit for balanced living.

6. Tree Plantation

"एक पेड़ मां के नाम"

Students and staff planted trees in honor of their mothers. This environmentally and emotionally resonant campaign emphasized gratitude and sustainability. Organized by the NSS and Botany Department, the drive instilled environmental ethics among participants.

7. Ozone Layer Protection Awareness

An awareness program educated students about ozone-depleting substances, especially CFCs, and their impact on the environment. Practical tips were given to reduce usage in everyday appliances. It instilled a sense of responsibility toward planetary health and climate action.
